Happy Thanksgiving! 11/25/2009
For me, Thanksgiving involves a lot of eating and a lot of sitting around, so I definitely like to dress comfortably. These days, though, there's a good chance of at least a couple of pictures ending up on Facebook for all to see. So, I put together a comfortable outfit that would allow maximum food intake while still looking fabulous. Have a great Turkey Day! Chains 11/24/2009
I just wanted to share a couple of new pieces. I made the same style of wrapped component that I use in my pearl pieces, but this time I used them to group multiple chains together: Fashionable Fun 11/22/2009
If you haven't checked out Polyvore before, it's a fun way of playing around with different fashion or interior design ideas. I thought this would be a great way for me to show various looks using my jewelry. My first look that I put together features my Willa Earrings and is inspired by a relaxed Sunday afternoon, because, well, it's Sunday afternoon! I thought this t-shirt was cute and reminded me of the Sunday comics :) If you click on the picture, each item will be linked to where you can get it. Hope you like it! Fall Fun 11/10/2009
I'm getting back into my regular routine (whatever that is!) now that my big Art on the Farm weekend is over. It was such a fabulous time! The breakfast they prepared for the artists on Saturday was amazing, and of course the food sold during the show was delicious, as well. Oh, and the art was fantastic, too! I kept hearing how so many artists want to be in the show, so I really feel honored that I can be part of it. There is such a nice mix of different types of work - I think putting the show together is an art in itself! Art on the Farm 10/25/2009
This month I've been spending a lot of time getting ready for a show I'm participating in on November 7 & 8 called Art on the Farm. If you're in the south-central PA area, be sure to stop in. There will be a wide variety of artists there - including great culinary artists! Check out the website for more info and directions: http://artonthefarmlancaster.com. And brand new in my shop... the Lizzy Necklace: Fall is here! 09/30/2009
There is a chill in the air, and I don't think I'm ready for it! I'm sure a little pumpkin bread would get me in the fall mood, though, so I should probably make some soon. In the meantime, I have some new freshwater pearl pieces in my shop in muted fall colors of brown, orange, and green, plus lots of other fun colors to come! In the Window 09/21/2009
I had a pretty busy week last week, so I haven't been able to update here as much, but i wanted to let you know that my jewelry is now at Kaleidoscope in Chambersburg. They created a lovely window display for it, which is very exciting! I'll have to see if I can get my photographer sister over there to take a picture of it. If you live nearby, be sure to stop in - it's a great way to check out my jewelry in person! First Friday 09/07/2009
Happy Labor Day everyone! This past Friday I headed downtown with some friends and my sister to check out First Friday in Chambersburg. We started out at Bistro 71 for a bite to eat and sat outside on their patio to enjoy the nice weather. We then made our way down to the square where artists had tables and displays set up of their work and a band was playing. We also stopped by Kaleidoscope where I'm going to have my jewelry soon, so my sister and I had a friend take a picture of us in front of it :) It definitely wasn't as happening as First Fridays in larger cities, but it was cool to see that there is an art community here that seems to be growing. My sister also gave me my belated birthday gift this weekend. Her friend Jen makes these really cool mini dress forms, so she had one made for me! My sister apparently didn't give her much to go on as far as colors and such, but she really did a beautiful job! I love the colors and prints she used. I hung some bracelets on it, but I also like it just by itself as a little piece of art. New Ventures 08/31/2009
This morning I met with the executive director of the Chambersburg Council for the Arts, because she contacted me about possibly carrying my jewelry in Kaleidoscope, their art gallery downtown. She seemed to love all of the pieces I showed her, and said she would love to have my pieces in the gallery. I'm so excited, because, while I am in a couple of boutiques, I haven't been in any galleries before, so it's a new venture for me. It'll be a couple of weeks until I get the pieces to her, but I'll be sure to let everyone know when the display is up! I've been busy creating designs for the pearls I posted about earlier, so I thought I'd give a sneak peak! These will be available in my Etsy shop later this week... Heel Jackets 08/20/2009
A few weeks ago, my jewelry was used in a photo shoot for a series of fashion design projects created by designer Bob Martin. Bob is an accomplished designer who studied in London, and he created this great video series that teaches people how to fashion design, which is perfect for those who want to learn from home. Bob did work for the movie Sweeney Todd, so that makes me what... 2 degrees from Johnny Depp now? Getting closer! ha! You can read all about Bob and his program here: www.howtofashiondesign.com The first project is for a heel jacket, which is sort of an updated, modern take on spats. I'm excited to see what the future projects are, and I'll be sure to post them as they arrive! |
